See, when I was 10, my mother told me that boys do boy things and girls do girl things. Boy things such as bulldozing, carpentry and girl things like cooking and cleaning. I rejected this quite early on. Why couldn't a boy do girl things? Does it have to be it that way? I spent the next bunch of years trying to figure out an answer. Around this time, someone suggested that there were not 2 genders but 27 (or 26 if you prefer). I could see the value in this mindest, of 27 individual gender identities, the idea seemed very appealing, but somehow I still felt confused. It was still labeling, a less insidious labeling then 2 genders society wants to oppose, but still labeling. So I said screw it. No more genders. My mindset changed to "there is no boy, no girl" because gender IMO doesn't exist. A sigh of relief. I now understood gender, I now understood myself.
